Nostalgic Contemplation

Nostalgic Contemplation
By WANG Guozhen

Translated by PalmtreeH

I do no know
whether    I am still loving you
If I am
How come    there was a parting like that

I do no know
whether    I stopped loving you long ago
If I did
How come    the memories did not flow away with time

Remembering your smiling face
My heart    is so turbulent
How bad everything
has turned into the past
Only the sparkling night
Is still beautiful    as before

Note: 婆娑 basically means swirling, swinging, or dancing, such as the leaves moving slightly in the breeze. It may also mean lively, diverse, light-hearted, at-ease, such as the light spots dancing among leaves. In this sense, sparkling is chosen as its English equivelant in the context of the poem.

The Intersection

The Intersection
by: 席慕容 XI Murong

Translated by PalmtreeH

If I truly loved you
I would not forget
Of course, I would still
calmly keep walking ahead
saying the weather is so pleasant
and the wind is gentle
I could also wearily smile in the setting sun
saying life is so ordinary
having no setbacks or sorrow
Whereas, if I truly loved you
I would not forget
it was at this intersection
the younger you and me had waved good-bye
and were ever since parted
